After months of rumor and speculation, the official news has finally arrived: HBO, through one of its press releases, revealed that Kaitlyn Dever (actress best known for starring in the TV Shows Unbelievable and Dopesick) will play Abigail “Abby” Anderson in Season 2 of the TV Series based on the video game The Last of Us (here’s the review of Season 1 of The Last of Us) and available exclusively to Sky and Now TV subscribers.
For those who haven’t had a chance to play the second installment of the Naughty Dog saga, you should know that Abby is one of the most important and best-written characters in the series and, in my personal opinion, there couldn’t have been a better performer to step into her shoes. Below is the official press release explaining who Abigail “Abby” Anderson is and what her role will be in the second season of The Last of Us:
“Kaitlyn Dever as Abby, a skilled soldier whose black-and-white view of the world is challenged as she seeks vengeance for those she loved“
In addition, here is a brief comment from Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann (Executive Producers/ Co-Creators and Writers of the series) regarding the choice of such an actress as Kaitlyn Dever, already nominated for two Golden Globes in 2020 and 2022.
We close the news revealing that over the next two days, until Thursday, January 11, 2024, and always at 6 p.m., HBO will announce all the new-entry cast members who will take part in the upcoming filming of the new episodes of The Last of Us.
