Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown Guide: tricks and tips for getting started

A Guide with some tricks and tips to start your adventure in Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, the new Ubisoft metroidvania

Prince of Persian: The Lost Crown has been available for purchase for a few days now here’s the article dedicated to the demo of Prince of Persa: The Lost Crown), the new 2.5D action metroidvania developed by Ubisoft Montpellier, available on PC, Nintendo Swtich and on all Xbox and Playstation consoles: to mark the occasion and while waiting for reviews (work in progress), I thought to write a guide with some tricks and tips to get off to the best start as Sargon – the title character and young member of a warrior clan named “The Immortals” – on the mission to rescue Prince Ghassan.

Exploration or guided mode

The Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown gameplay (finally, here’s our review of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown), like any self-respecting good metroidvania, is particularly focused on exploration: in this regard, if you are new to the genre and have difficulty finding your way around the different areas that serve as the backdrop for the new Ubisoft adventure, you should know that there is an option to activate the guided exploration mode.

The main difference from classic roaming (here directions will be kept to a minimum) is that in this simplified mode, every time you open the map to check your location, the game will notify you of the main objective and any routes that are accessible or, conversely, blocked. This is an ideal choice for those who want to get straight to the point and avoid wasting too much time wandering around without a clear middle.

Smart Backtracking

As mentioned in the previous section, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown is a metroidvania and, as such, backtracking will be your bread and butter: some roads will initially be blocked as, to access them, you may be required to have a special skill that you will unlock as you progress through the campaign.

No problem, mark the point on the map where your road stops in order to return to it in due time once you have obtained the necessary power. I’ll tell you more: Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown allows the player to capture actual screenshots of the area – by spending Memory Fragments, the currency dedicated to this purpose – to get a sharp image of the location of your interest.

Change the game difficulty

Not only exploration: the difficulty of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown can also be selected by the player at the beginning of the game, choosing between Beginner, Warrior, Hero or Immortal. A decision, the one made by Ubisoft Montpellier, that guarantees the best possible user experience.

Prince of Persia The Lost Crown Tips

As if that were not enough, you can interrupt your adventure whenever you want to modify specific game parameters so as to customize the gameplay even more: adjust, for example, the parry window (the time space available to execute it), reduce the base health of mobs, and much more.

The Lost Crown’s guide to parry

One of the mechanics I most appreciated in The Lost Crown demo is the ability to activate parry, which is essential for blocking opponents’ attacks and, at the same time, stunning them. In this way, we will hit mobs for free while they are dazed.

You should know, however, that there are three different types of attacks performed by enemies, which can be identified through a particular glint that precedes their offensive and can be white, yellow and red in color:

  • White-colored attacks: always blockable through parry
  • Yellow-colored attacks: always blockable through parry which, if successful, results in instant killing of enemies as well as inflicting considerable damage against bosses
  • Red-colored attacks: cannot be blocked and must be compulsorily dodged

Pay attention to hidden walls

One only has to have delved into the demo to realize how many hidden walls are present in The Lost Crown. Although invisible to the naked eye, the best way to detect them is to stop for a few seconds when you come to the end of a closed road. Hit the wall and, more often than not, you will reveal a secret room containing valuable treasure.

Strengthen the potion immediately

We are – and I add a nice unfortunately because I was having a lot of fun writing down all these tricks that I hope will be useful to you – came to the latest advice from our guide: In Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, the fastest way to restore health lost in battle is to drink from your flask, and at first, the use you can make of it is rather limited.

Therefore, the suggestion I want to give you is to Unlock an additional potion charge as soon as possible (do not upgrade weapons right away, do it later), so as to increase the number of cures and considerably reduce the risk of premature game over between checkpoints.
