Shadow of the Erdtree Guide: how to beat Radahn, consort of Miquella
After beating Messmer the Impaler (if he hasn’t cursed her mother yet, here’s the Guide to defeat Messmer the Impaler), it’s the turn of the last Boss of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, Radahn, consort of Miquella, unpleasantly known in the last legacy dungeon of the DLC. I defeated others in the process but since I just foiled Malenia’s brother’s plan and completed the expansion, I dove into hot writing.
Did I enjoy the boss fight? Not at all, in the sense that it is interesting to face Radahn again in his “prime” version, however, I would have preferred to take on an unseen boss, considering how many new, epic opponents I have had the pleasure of unveiling in my adventure in the Land of Shadow (I am just reporting what I thought between deaths).
Before we dive into the guide, the usual service info: character level 180, level 16 as far as Scadutree Fragments and, for the occasion, Marika’s Golden Braid Talisman that reduces sacred damage (you can find it in the Shaman Village).
Finally, I decided not to resort to summoning and/or Mimic Tear, simply because, with the build you will read about in the next paragraph, I did not need it. Nevertheless, if you struggle to eliminate Radahn, get help from the Tear but try to call her in phase two of the confrontation.
Best build to defeat Radahn, consort of Miquella
That of Radahn, Miquella’s consort is a tough final battle if approached with the wrong equipment but one that becomes quite easy with the right build. If you have read my previous guides, you may have noticed that I never replaced my faithful Moonveil, because I considered it the best possible weapon. Its weapon art, in fact, also allowed me to be dangerous from a distance in those rare instances when I was left with space to take a breather.
And in fact, I started the challenge against Radahn precisely with my old katana, studying his overpowering moveset – aided by his infinite stamina – yet struggling to get into the second phase, the real one: however, do not underestimate these first fifteen/tI memorized the timing of his attacks – a classic in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree boss fights -, when and in what direction to roll (always toward him if possible trying to sneak behind him).

At some point, however, I was forced to change builds because I saw no way out. Therefore, out Moonveil and Meteoritic Staff, in with Mohgwyn’s Sacred Spear – which also causes bleeding -, Moore’s shield and armor while the respec of statistics was as follows:
- Vitality 56,
- Temper 50
- Strenght 50
- Dexterity 30
- Arcane 40
The more stamina you have, the better it is for the encounter, since it is essential for resisting the enemy’s attacks and, in the process, striking him to exhaustion until he bleeds with the possibility of even being able to stun him.
Radahn, consort of Miquella: phases one and two
The strategy, with this new setup changes totally: all you have to do is stick to him like a tick, shield up and drill him endlessly with an eye always on stamina. Regarding the latter, my advice is to keep yourself on a medium-weight load anyway to have rolls available as well, which are effective against some of the consort’s area or melee attacks (in this regard, the arsenal talisman of the great vessel may do the trick).
In fact, although I had almost impassable protection, I still did not give up dodging in certain situations to allow the vigor to regenerate quickly without always standing with the shield up high for protection (the Green Turtle Talisman proved crucial). I had no problem alternating between the two defenses having learned Radahn’s phase one “well” before doing the respec.

As for the melee lunges of the boss, with the new build they will almost tickle you. The focus of this strategy is managing stamina to defend and attack. In any case, when he draws you to himself and then explodes, there is little you can do (I still haven’t figured out how to avoid being wounded): shield up and accept taking some damage. When, on the other hand, he is about to throw meteorites at you, start running to the right or left while always keeping the lock on the behemoth and jump a moment before the boulders impact.
In phase two, when he rises into the air, run away so as not to be flooded with holy light – which hurts a lot – and roll if he tries to make a grab for you: if grabbed twice, it will be game over. Finally, when Radahn flies through the sky as in the base game of Elden Ring, recharge your health to the maximum and drink from the ampoule mixed with the balm that increases PVs. Even if you should fail to avoid the crash, you would still have enough energy to survive.

Hang in there, don’t rush to win, and at the end, you can congratulate yourself: with the defeat of the last major boss of Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree, Radahn consort of Miquella, you will have completed the DLC. In return, you will get the Remembrance of a god and a lord and the Circlet of Light.
